Standardised access to local journey planning services and multimodal transport data

Enhanced Wisetrip and Co-Cities have started cooperation and first technical results are being tested.

Part-funded by the EC in the ICT Policy Support Program (Competitive and Innovation Program) the Co-Cities project aims to trial and evaluate a standardised, pan-European data and service access layer allowing third-party applications to leverage on transport related data and services, including journey planning services, locally available in urban areas and regions.

The Co-Cities interface integrates several widely used European de iure or de facto standard - including DATEX II, SIRI, TPEG and JourneyWeb - providing harmonised access to a distributed set of multi-modal data and services made accessible by the participating cities and regions. Co-Cities is currently running pilot trials in Vienna, Tuscany Region, Prague, Bilbao, Reading and Treviso.

Softeco are a technical partner in Co-Cities and have lead the design and development work of the standardised interface layer deployed and operated in the trial sites.

This cooperation provides Enhanced Wisetrip with the capability of interfacing with the local JP services available in Co-Cities sites via a standardised interface, thereby greatly expanding the capabilities of enlarging the network of journey planning services reached by Enhanced Wisetrip services.

The first technical tests have been successfully performed by interfacing the Enhanced Wisetrip service platform with the Co-Cities enabled journey planning and mobility information services available in Tuscany Region.
